Following the recent media coverage regarding child abuse in football, the Football Association (FA) has written to all youth clubs and we wanted to pass that communication on to all of our parents. The key messages from the FA are as follows :-
The FA are working closely with the police and relevant authorities, and want to encourage anyone with information about possible child abuse to report their concerns to the police.
The FA has commissioned the NSPCC to provide a specific helpline to help encourage more people to come forward – the number is 0800 023 2642;
- The FA has reminded all youth football clubs to ensure that safeguarding children is a priority, and for extra vigilance with regards to safeguarding and procedures.
The club’s Safeguarding Children policy can be found here as per the FA directive. The club will be reviewing its Safeguarding procedures over the next few days to ensure that it is as comprehensive as it should be.
The club Child Welfare Officer is Becky Dore. Please be assured that as a Club we do treat safeguarding children as a priority, and ensure that we carry out the relevant checks on our volunteers but if you do have any concerns or wish to discuss the matter then please do not hesitate to contact Becky or speak with myself.
